Dr Amano is the grandfather of Kenta Amano and Haruka Amano and a scientist who invented anything for peace. An eccentric old man ridiculed for his outlandish theories, Hiroshi has lived as a bit of a hermit, but never lives alone by way of his grandchildren living with him. His zany experiments and his superstitious beliefs often land him and the Space Police Force in trouble with the public, and for the longest time, Inspector Satsuda has believed him to be responsible for a bank robbery... only to learn the hard way it was not Hiroshi who made the robbery.
To build the Amano Peace Labs, he sold out his ancestral mountain lands, however for more money to support his peace inventions, he didn't pay the inheritance tax. This left him paranoid about taxes and his zany antics have caused the grief of many civilians in his neighborhood, and Satsuda was a common foe to deal with.
The name Hiroshi means "PhD, doctor" (博士).
It can also mean "command, esteem" (博) (hiro) and "samurai, warrior, gentleman" (士) (shi) separately.
Hiroshi's surname Amano means "heaven/heavenly, sky, imperial" (天) (ama) and "field, wilderness" (野) (no).

GP liquid. Invented by Amano, and replicated by Dr. Jango in Episode 9. Amano developed this to reduce noise pollution caused by demolition work.
GPL Neutralizer. Having developed GP Liquid, Amano was able to find a way to stop it easily.
Miracle Ink, later named Miracle Water Cleaner. While originally designed as ink that can write on glass, it was found to be able to clear the water of red algae.
A shock-absorbing platform. Used by Guard Star in episode 16 to prevent recoil from firing his Star Blaster.
